Today's Language Lesson

Chauvinism does not necessarily have anything to do with gender. Misogyny does.

chau·vin·ism [shoh-vuh-niz-uhm] –noun
1. zealous and aggressive patriotism or blind enthusiasm for military glory.
2. biased devotion to any group, attitude, or cause.

mi·sog·y·ny [mi-soj-uh-nee] –noun
1. hatred, dislike, or mistrust of women.

I don't think Becky is gonna like the way you used "linguistically" either.

Actually, I love the word linguistically, and I think Jason could not have used it better. Plus, I love the credit when I didn't even know the difference between the two words; although, I did suspect chauvinism might not denote anything to do with gender, since it is usually paired with the word "male."
